Academic
The pursuit of academic rigour is at the heart of what we do. We encourage all of our students to aim to be the best they can be, and to adopt a positive approach to study, whilst being able to strike a balance, and complement academic work with extra-curricular and enrichment activities in order for them to develop into well-rounded individuals, confident in their ability to do well.
We want our pupils to follow in the scholarly ways of St Edmund, to have enquiring minds, open hearts, a love of learning and a thirst for knowledge.
We support our students to achieve their personal best, and guide and encourage them in their endeavours. We realise that exams are not the sole focus, but we cannot underline their importance enough, as examination success will afford our students’ many opportunities and open many doors.
Throughout their time at the College, our pupils are supported in many ways in their studies by their tutors, Heads of House, subject teachers, and Heads of Department. Their progress will be tracked and monitored regularly, and through dialogue with their subject teachers, targets to which they can aspire will be set. Our pupils themselves have a key role to play in their academic development. We encourage openness, discussion, and reflection, as the relationship pupil – teacher is inspirational when it flourishes.
The focus on the pupil is paramount, and we value each student and give them every opportunity to fulfil their potential, with the guidance, help and support of a committed and dedicated staff.
We offer a wide range of A Level subjects, as listed below and try to offer as many different option combinations as possible. For more detailed information about the individual courses please complete the online request form and we will send a full prospectus pack.
