Pre-Prep

Personalised learning continues in the Pre Prep as teachers work with parents to find and nurture each pupils’ own unique talent or gift.

The curriculum becomes more structured and learning more formalised and whilst teachers follow the new National Curriculum, this is enhanced with a creative approach with aims to inspire and enthuse, building confidence and raising self-esteem, helping to enable children to grow in independence.  Class teachers teach the majority of subjects and are supported by experienced Teaching Assistants, helping to maintain a family feel and continuing to build upon excellent teacher-pupil relationships and ratios.  Specialist subjects include music and sport, swimming and French.  Drama is also introduced from Form 2.

Children in Form 1 and 2 join together with the Prep school each Friday where they take part in the Performing Arts Assembly.  Children’s individual or team achievements, from in or out of school, are recognised and celebrated.

The first steps we make in life can have a profound effect on the future direction we take.

At St Edmund’s, we understand that the first steps your child takes into the world of learning and sharing with others will guide their future development, and that is why we have created a Prep School that lays the foundations for a life that is ethical, inquisitive, sociable and fulfilling.

We seek to nurture the spirit and light a fire of passion for life-long learning in the hearts of every child.
