Boarding life at St Edmund’s is busy, fun and well-balanced.
All students at St Edmund’s benefit from our enriching College co-curricular and Sixth Form co-curricular programmes.
In addition to this, boarders enjoy a full range of evening and weekend activities. This busy schedule of morning and evening prayers, academic lessons, assemblies, games, structured prep sessions, activities and fixtures, is carefully balanced with time to relax and socialise.
Keeping busy
Weekly coaching sessions are available in a number of different sports and boarders have access to our on-site sports facilities, which include:
- Indoor swimming pool
- Sports hall
- Fully equipped gym
- Table tennis
- Astro-turf
- Tennis courts
Regular cultural themed evenings, led by students, are thoroughly enjoyed by all, and our annual Christmas talent show is a real highlight. Many boarders also take part in College music and drama productions.
All boarders also have access to our well-equipped library and ICT suites.
Weekend adventures
At the weekends, our experienced boarding team lead a balanced programme of cultural and social activities. This includes everything from trips to the theatre, cinema and shopping centres to visiting London, Cambridge, Windsor, Oxford and beyond!
Spiritual life
The Chapel plays an important part in boarding life for students of all faiths. It provides a valuable space for prayer and reflection.
Evening prayers include Compline, Chapel Band, student-led prayers and meditation, providing a deeper understanding of the Catholic faith and boarders attend a weekly Mass on Sunday. There are opportunities to take the lead in College spiritual life through our Sacristy team and choir or by leading prayers and readings at Mass.
