Nursery (age 3 – 4)

Set in 400-acres of countryside, St Edmund’s Nursery offers a unique environment in which to explore, play and learn.

We understand that the very first steps your child takes into the world of learning will guide their future development. At St Edmund’s, children can begin their learning adventure in our Nursery, joining us in the term after their third birthday.

Safe and inspiring

Our excellent staff to pupil ratios and experienced teaching team ensure that each child gains the very best Ed’s start. Independence is developed through a personalised learning programme, tailored to engage every child in activities that stimulate, stretch and build confidence. We work at a pace suited to each child, providing quality care and attention. By discovering likes and dislikes, asking for opinions and offering plenty of interaction, our little learners thrive without feeling pressured.

Outdoor adventures

We enjoy learning outdoors, and our young explorers benefit from nurturing initiative, resilience and creativity in our bespoke Forest School and orchard.

Nursery pupils also benefit from:

  • Fun French lessons
  • Weekly swimming lessons in our indoor, heated pool with qualified instructors
  • Optional peripatetic music lessons
  • Weekly dance lessons

Hours

  • Full day (8.30 am – 3.30 pm) including lunch
  • Morning session (8.30 am – 12.30 pm) or afternoon session (11.30 am – 3.30 pm)

These hours can be extended to 7.30 am – 6.00pm through our wrap-around care provision.

Moving up to Reception

St Edmund’s Nursery is perfect preparation for moving up into our Reception class (age 4-5).

In Reception, children build on the foundation gained in Nursery and they continue to learn in our familiar, playful setting, with an increased focus on exploring numeracy and literacy skills.

We are thankful to have found such a wonderful environment for our son. He is very happy, and settling in well.
