Our school day

Explore an overview of the school day at each stage of our education.

 

Nursery

Our nursery children (3 – 4 year olds) are welcome to attend either a morning and/or afternoon session.

The morning session runs from 8.30 am until 11.30 am and the afternoon session runs from 12.30 pm until 3.30 pm.

For children that stay for both sessions, the school day runs from 8.30 am until 3.30 pm.

Reception (age 4 – 5)

In Reception our school day runs from 8.30 am until 3.30 pm.

11.30 am Preparation and lunch in the Refectory situated in the main College building. Lunch is followed by outdoor play/activities.
12.45 pm Afternoon registration followed by activities/learning time

Pre-Prep (Form 1 and 2)

In Pre Prep our school day runs from 8.30 am until 3.30 pm.

There are four teaching periods of varying lengths, divided into appropriate lessons dependent on the curriculum.

We also offer optional activities at the end of the school day from 3.30 – 4.30 pm.

Please note:

  • Monday afternoon break is at 2.30 – 2.45 pm to accommodate swimming
  • On Wednesday afternoons Form 2 attend Forest School during break.
  • Thursday afternoon break is at 2.15 – 2.30 pm to accommodate Mass.
  • On Thursday afternoons between 2.30 – 3.30 pm, alternate year groups attend Mass in St Hugh’s Chapel (Form 1) or St Edmund’s College Chapel (Form 2) once a fortnight.
  • On Friday afternoons between 2.30 – 2.45 pm, Forms 1 and 2 attend Sunshine assembly in St Hugh’s Chapel.
Prep (Form 3 – 6)

In Prep our school day runs from 8.30 am until 3.30 pm.

College (11 – 16)
Our year groups are named after the stages of learning Latin:

  • Year 7 – Elements
  • Year 8 – Rudiments
  • Year 9 – Grammar
  • Year 10 – Syntax
  • Year 11 – Poetry

Year groups are grouped into:

  • Bounds (Year 7 – 9)
  • First Division (Years 10 – 13)

The school day (for day students) runs from 8.40 am – 4.30pm.

There are six teaching periods, allotted break times plus an activities hour at the end of the day.
