A Level results 2023
Students from St Edmund’s College are celebrating after receiving an impressive set of A Level results, with 85% of grades awarded at A*–C and strong performances seen across a number of varied subjects. Students studying Further Maths secured 100% of grades at A*–A grades, whilst those studying French achieved 100% at grades A*–B and in Art 50% of grades were awarded at A*– A.
The results achieved by students are all the more notable given that this year group was unable to sit their GCSE’s in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
2023 headline A Level results from St Edmund’s College are as follows:
- 85% of students received A*–C grades
- 58% achieved A*–B grades
- 28% of students were awarded grades at A*–A
The class of 2022/23 has been accepted into a diverse array of universities, institutions, and opportunities with 88% securing their first-choice destinations including at the Universities of Bath, Bristol, Exeter, Manchester and Warwick, and the University College London (UCL). They will pursue degrees in a range of disciplines such as Law, Engineering, Anthropology, History and Pharmacy. Students also secured degree apprenticeships with prestigious firms such as J. P. Morgan.
Our Rhetoric students secured places at top universities, including University College London, University of Exeter, London School of Economics, University of Leeds, Nottingham University and London Southbank University.

2023 headline GCSE results from St Edmund’s College are as follows:
- Grade 9–7 (A*–A) 47%
- Grade 9–5 (A*–B) 84%
St Edmund’s College & Prep School, Ware, is pleased to announce an excellent set of GCSE results. Year 11 pupils secured an admirable collection of grades with 84% awarded at 9–5 (A*–B) and 47% at 9-7 (A*–A). These results follow the school’s recent success in A Level examinations and reinforce St Edmund’s place as a leading education provider for pupils living in Hertfordshire and beyond.
This year, St Edmund’s pupils delivered particularly strong performances in individual science subjects. Grades 9–7 (A*–A) were achieved by 88% of pupils studying Biology; 75% of pupils taking Chemistry; and 83% of pupils studying Physics. There were also exceptional results in language subjects, specifically German and Italian.

Returning to pre-pandemic grading standards was never going to be easy for pupils, but we are incredibly proud of their achievements, and look forward to welcoming them back in September to continue their studies in our Sixth Form.”
