Drama is taught throughout the year as a curriculum subject to all children in Forms 2 to 6. A specialist teacher runs an after-school Speech and Drama club for children in Forms 3-6, during which preparation for LAMDA examinations takes place. Other after-school Drama clubs offered recently have included pantomime, musical theatre, stage combat and puppetry. Children are invited to perform their LAMDA pieces at recitals and are also encouraged to participate in the annual Inter-House Drama and Poetry Competitions and in the weekly Performing Arts Assemblies. For the past few years, the after-school pantomime club has put on a performance close to Christmas. The highlight of the dramatic year is undoubtedly the summer musical in which Form 6 take on the main acting and singing roles and Forms 3 to 5 support in a singing and dancing chorus. Recent productions have included Mary Poppins (2014), The Jungle Book (2013), Peter Pan (2012) and Bugsy Malone (2011). We are fortunate to enjoy the use of the College’s Douay Hall for these fully staged productions.
