Welcome to Douglass House!
As Housemistress, my vision for Douglass House is to be a place where every pupil feels valued, supported and inspired to grow.
Douglass House is no ordinary House – it is a vibrant, caring community, strengthened by an exceptional team of tutors dedicated to helping each Douglassian thrive and make the most of their time here at St Edmund’s College.
I believe every young person is created with a unique blend of God-given gifts and talents, and it is my heartfelt desire to help each one discover and develop these fully. Our aim is to nurture pupils who are caring, thoughtful, mature, dedicated and generous. Inspired by our namesake, Bishop John Douglass – whose tireless work helped to establish our College and provide refuge to French nuns and priests fleeing persecution – we seek to instil in our pupils the same courage, compassion and dedication.
Alongside these virtues, we also pursue excellence. Whether in the classroom, on the sports field or in their daily interactions, I encourage our pupils to stretch themselves, act with respect and integrity, and embrace responsibility.
My hope and prayer is that every pupil who passes through Douglass House will leave St Edmund’s knowing their true worth, equipped to make a difference and ready to live out their full God-given potential as responsible, compassionate and impactful global citizens.
