Following the outstanding success of A Level Results Day, St Edmund’s is proud to announce its best ever GCSE results, marking another milestone for England’s oldest Catholic school.
This year, over a third of all GCSE grades awarded were at the highest levels of 8–9 (equivalent to the old A*), with exceptional individual achievements from pupils including Cosimo C, Megan C, Megan S, Jessica B and Amelia J, who all achieved top grades across every subject.
An impressive 20% of the year group secured an average GCSE grade of over 8, while many others celebrated results that exceeded their own expectations. These outcomes reflect not only the hard work and determination of the students, but also the commitment and care of their teachers and families.
A Culture of High Performance and Holistic Education
At St Edmund’s College and Prep, success is built on more than just examination results. Teaching at the school follows the evidence-based High Performance Learning (HPL) framework, which deliberately develops both advanced cognitive skills and essential values, attitudes and attributes. This approach equips students not only for academic success, but also for life beyond the classroom.
Rooted in Catholic values and guided by the College’s core principles of faith, learning, community and opportunity, our holistic education encourages every pupil to strive for excellence while also developing leadership, resilience and compassion.
Preparing for Sixth Form Success
For many pupils, these GCSE results represent the gateway to the next stage of their education at St Edmund’s Sixth Form, where they will continue their journey through A Levels or CTECs. The Sixth Form at St Edmund’s is designed to provide both academic challenge and strong pastoral support, ensuring that students are well prepared for university, higher education, and future careers.
