Student Nastja received a special award earlier this year, recognising her powerful work in helping others to better understand and empathise with refugees around the world.
Having written and illustrated a book about her own experience of coming to England, Nastja was first invited to spend the day with Dr Krish Kandiah and the Sanctuary Foundation Team as part of her award, engaging in meaningful conversations about compassion, belonging and shared humanity. The highlight of the day was receiving her certificate from Dame Sarah Mullaly, the Bishop of London.
Then, as a competition winner in June, Nastja was invited to the launch of the next annual competition, held at the House of Lords on Wednesday 12th November, where she met Lord Marvin Rees, and delivered a speech discussing the story behind her artwork.
