Inter-House Performing Arts Week at St Edmund’s Prep
We have enjoyed a wonderful week celebrating the Performing Arts at St Edmund’s Prep, marking a vibrant start to the half term. It has been a delight to witness the excitement of the children, many of whom eagerly participated in all three events: Music, Drama and Dance.
With an impressive 75 entries overall, pupils created almost six hours of entertainment for their peers and staff. Our three adjudicators thoroughly enjoyed the week and praised the children’s enthusiasm, creativity and confidence. Congratulations to all entrants, and heartfelt thanks to parents for supporting what is always a highlight of our Performing Arts calendar.
Music Competition
The week began on Monday with the Music Competition, featuring performances from pupils in Forms 1 to 6. Audiences enjoyed a wide variety of instruments, including voice, piano, violin, ukulele, guitar, recorder and drum kit.
We were delighted to welcome Mrs Lund, the College Academic Director of Music, as adjudicator for the day. She commented on how much she enjoyed hearing the pupils perform, praising their courage and willingness to take part. Her encouraging feedback helped create a wonderfully positive atmosphere, especially for those performing for the first time.

Celebrating Success
Every performer gained HPL points for their House, and all should feel proud of their achievements. From the youngest pupils in Form 1, taking their first steps in the performing arts, to the confident Form 6 performers, the week showcased the outstanding creativity, teamwork and passion of our Prep community.
With first places in both Drama and Dance, Southworth House were crowned this year’s overall winners and will be awarded the Inter-House Performing Arts Shield.
Congratulations to Southworth, Campion and Mayne, and to every pupil who made this week a joyful celebration of talent, courage and creativity.
