Cadets from St Edmund’s College CCF joined pupils from Brentwood School and Nottingham High School for an action-packed RAF Valley Camp, part of the national Combined Cadet Force (CCF) programme. This exciting RAF Cadet Camp gave pupils the chance to develop leadership and teamwork skills while exploring life at a real RAF base.

During the week, cadets enjoyed a range of challenging and rewarding activities. These included adventurous training, drill practice, and team games such as dodgeball. They also took part in valuable sessions with the RAF fire section, learning how crews respond to real emergencies. One of the highlights of the week was getting up close to the impressive Hawk T2 aircraft, used for fast jet training at RAF Valley.

These CCF camps are always a highlight for St Edmund’s cadets, offering the opportunity to develop practical skills, confidence, and leadership qualities. The immersive experience also gave pupils a first-hand look at career opportunities within the RAF and the Armed Forces.

Wing Commander Singh, Camp Commandant for RAF Valley and Contingent Commander for Brentwood School CCF, said:

“It is my pleasure to be Camp Commandant of the CCF RAF Valley camp. We have 26 cadets here from three different schools at a frontline RAF station. The cadets have met base personnel, visited different sections, and learned about life in the RAF from a firsthand perspective. They have worked well together, developing their personal skills and their interest in the RAF.”

The St Edmund’s College CCF RAF Valley Camp was an unforgettable experience for our pupils, combining teamwork, adventure, and learning. The cadets returned inspired, motivated, and proud of their achievements, a true reflection of the values at the heart of St Edmund’s College.
