Raising Awareness Across the School
St Edmund’s College & Prep School celebrated World Mental Health Day 2025 on Friday 10th October. The school ran activities to raise awareness, encourage discussion and support positive mental health. Pupils and staff wore yellow, the official colour of mental health awareness. This created a bright and cheerful atmosphere throughout the school. Housemasters and Housemistresses led assemblies. They explained mental health, building resilience and where students could get help. In addition, the day highlighted the importance of looking out for each other and building a caring community.
Activities to Support Wellbeing
Throughout the day, pupils joined activities to encourage self-care and reflection. Some took part in art and mindfulness workshops, while others spent time outdoors or joined group discussions. Meanwhile, the catering team served yellow-themed snacks and desserts, adding a fun touch to lunchtime. In addition, the school replaced the usual bell with Coldplay’s song “Yellow”, filling the corridors with music and smiles. Together, these activities gave practical ways for students to look after their mental health.
Messages of Support and Kindness
Lucy Dunhill, Assistant Head Safeguarding and Wellbeing / DSL, shared an inspiring message. She said, “At St Edmund’s, we recognise that mental health is as important as physical health. Days like this remind our pupils that support is always available and that kindness, empathy and connection make a real difference.” Moreover, her words reinforced the school’s commitment to creating a positive and supportive environment.
Continuing the Commitment to Wellbeing
By celebrating World Mental Health Day 2025, St Edmund’s College & Prep School strengthened its culture of openness, compassion and care. Pupils and staff were reminded to look out for each other and practise good mental health habits every day.
