CAFOD is an international development charity who reach out to people living in poverty with practical help, whatever their religion or culture. CAFOD is the official Aid agency of the Catholic Church in England and Wales. Their fast day took place on 4th October. In order to raise money and show solidarity with those in need, pupils were invited to wear their own clothes and most opted for the economy lunch, where they received soup and bread instead of the usual Friday favourite of fish and chips. The money saved from the ordinary lunch meant that we were able to send just over £2000 to CAFOD to help them in their work.

Following on from this, pupils were encouraged to support efforts a little closer to home by donating non-perishable goods for the Hertford Foodbank.

1 in 5 people in the UK live below the poverty line and many need foodbanks in order to survive. Last year, the Hertford Foodbank helped over 5,000 people. Our pupils and parents generously donated food items and toiletries, with a staggering donation of 975kg.
