A talented Year 8 (Rudiments) student from St Edmund’s College, Ware, has excelled at the prestigious British Showjumping National Championships, placing third overall in the 138cm Bronze League Final.

Taking place over six action-packed days (1 – 6 August), the annual competitive British Showjumping National Championships were held at the NAEC, Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire. The highly-anticipated event provides a platform to showcase the best in British Showjumping and is considered a highlight in many riders’ careers.

St Edmund’s pupil, Saskia I., delivered an outstanding performance with her skewbald pony, Sponge Bob, to be crowned a respectable overall third place in the 138cm Bronze League Final.

Saskia, who lives in Little Hadham, began riding when she was just a small child and her passion to learn to jump developed at around the age of eight years old.  She only started competing at affiliated showjumping events less than a year ago and achieved previous success at the Pony of the Year Show in April this year, where she placed 8th and 10th overall.

Matthew Mostyn, Headmaster at St Edmund’s College, said:

“We are very proud of Saskia and her exceptional achievements in this highly regarded national competition. Saskia set herself a goal and she certainly achieved it. Well done, Saskia, you’ve shown such dedication and commitment to your sport and we can’t wait to see what you do next in the showjumping arena.”
