St Edmund’s College is celebrating the achievements of its Class of 2026, as Rhetoric Students receive an excellent set of CTEC and A-Level results and prepare to take their next steps into university, degree apprenticeships and beyond.
The results represent the College’s second-best set of results since Covid, with more than one-third of all grades awarded at A* or A and over 60% at A*–B – a tremendous achievement for pupils and staff across the Sixth Form.
Results Day marks the culmination of years of hard work, ambition and determination from pupils across the Sixth Form, supported throughout by their teachers, families and the wider St Edmund’s community.
There were many outstanding individual performances, including Tanisha, Catherine, Luna, Pippa, and Guy, who achieved A-A*, alongside numerous pupils securing the grades needed to progress to their chosen universities, courses and careers.
First CTEC Cohort Sets the Standard
This year also marks an important milestone for St Edmund’s, with the College celebrating the results of its first cohorts completing CTEC Business and Sport and Physical Education. The pupils performed exceptionally well, achieving the equivalent of 92% A*–B grades, demonstrating both the strength of these new technical pathways and the value that can be added when pupils are given opportunities that match their individual talents and ambitions.
But the celebration extends beyond the highest grades.
Across the Class of 2026 are pupils who have challenged themselves, overcome setbacks and exceeded their own expectations. Their achievements reflect a Sixth Form culture that encourages every young person to discover what they are capable of and then gives them the support, challenge and confidence to pursue it.
Creating the Conditions for Every Pupil to Succeed
St Edmund’s is a World-Class High-Performance Learning (HPL) School, with teaching built around an evidence-based approach that develops the cognitive skills, values, attitudes and attributes associated with high performance. At its heart is a belief that high achievement is possible for every pupil. Combined with the College’s Catholic ethos and commitment to educating the whole person, this means success at St Edmund’s is about more than examination grades. Sixth Formers are encouraged to become confident, compassionate and ambitious young adults, developing the leadership, communication and personal skills that will enable them to flourish long after they leave the College.
For the Class of 2026, those next chapters are particularly exciting.
Pupils have secured places at some of the UK’s leading universities, including Durham University, Imperial College London, the University of St Andrews, UCL and the University of Edinburgh.
They will go on to study an impressive breadth of subjects, including Architecture, Biochemistry Economics, Engineering, Fine Art, Law and Neuroscience reflecting the diverse interests, talents and ambitions within the year group.
Others have chosen increasingly competitive Degree Apprenticeship routes, securing opportunities including Logistics with Morrisons and a Degree Apprenticeship with KPMG. These pathways will allow pupils to combine further academic study with professional experience and demonstrate the breadth of destinations now available to St Edmund’s leavers.

“We are enormously proud of the Class of 2026. Their hard work, resilience and ambition have been outstanding, and it has been a privilege to watch them grow into the impressive young adults they are today.
“With more than a third of grades awarded at A* or A and over 60% at A*–B, these are excellent results. But behind every result is an individual story. For some, today represents exceptional academic achievement at the very highest level; for others, it is the culmination of tremendous progress, determination and perseverance. Every one of those achievements deserves to be celebrated.
“I would also like to thank our exceptional teaching staff, who continually go above and beyond to bring out the best in every pupil, and our parents and guardians for the encouragement and support they have provided throughout their children’s time at the College.
“Today belongs to our pupils. We are incredibly excited to see where their next chapter takes them and look forward to watching them make their mark on the world.”
As the Class of 2026 leaves St Edmund’s for universities, apprenticeships and opportunities across the UK and beyond, they do so with much more than their examination results: with friendships, experiences, confidence and values that will remain with them for life.
