The William Ward 7+ Scholarship

The William Ward 7+ Scholarship (Form 3)

For children already at St Edmund’s Prep, or for those wishing to join us at 7+ (Form 3), the William Ward 7+ Scholarship is awarded to children who demonstrate exceptional academic ability and talents in either Music, Art or Sport.

They are decided by test and interview with the Head of the Prep.  Successful applicants will receive a reduction in school fees for the four years that they are at St Edmund’s Prep.  These Scholarships are not automatically transferred on the child’s entry into the College.

For those children not currently at the St Edmund’s Prep, a completed Registration Form (including the registration fee of £100) is required together with a letter to the Head of the Prep requesting entry to the Scholarship examination. A copy of the child’s latest school report will also be requested. Please click here to register for the Prep. If you would like to discuss applying for a Scholarship, please contact Mrs Dickinson at the Prep school on 01920 824239 or via tdickinson@stedmundscollege.org.

Applications to be received by: Tuesday 18th January 2022
Scholarship Examination Dates: Saturday 22nd January 2022

Joining us at Form 3

We offer the William Ward 7+ Scholarship at Form 3 as it is a key entry point for St Edmund’s Prep. Form 3 is the natural transition point to Key Stage 2, the phase of education for ages 7-11. The transition from Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 2 sees a shift to a more academically challenging curriculum, as your child is challenged to perform at their personal best. Success at Key Stage 2 is essential for a strong start to their Secondary School education.

Our Form 3 classes are small (average of 14 students per class), with high-quality teaching fostering outstanding personal development.

At Form 3, your child begins to follow a diverse academic curriculum. In addition to the key subjects, our Form 3 students benefit from specialist teaching in Music, Swimming, Art, Tennis, Drama and Modern Foreign Languages, which includes a Language Carousel allowing students to immerse themselves in a variety of cultures.

Additionally, at Form 3, our students are involved in a comprehensive sports programme, including a wide range of opportunities for inter-school and inter-house competitions.

St Edmund’s Prep offers outstanding facilities that Form 3 benefits from, including the swimming pool, a 400-acre site with orienteering course and numerous woodland areas, Forest School, the Orchard, astroturf pitches, designated Science learning areas, Drama Studio, Music practice rooms, the Library, Computer Suite, own Chapel, Eco area, Prayer Garden, outdoor assault course and amphitheatre.
