We require a full-time Temporary Director of Music.
St Edmund’s College is seeking to appoint a Director of Music. The College has a strong musical tradition, particularly chorally, and we are looking for someone to lead the Co-Curricular and Performance side of this vibrant department into its next chapter. The successful candidate will guide and motivate pupils to be engaged in all forms of Music and to participate in ensembles and represent the College at every opportunity. They will also work alongside the Head of Academic Music to deliver and engage pupils in the curriculum subject so that Music, in all its forms, can be celebrated at the College. The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Line management of Visiting Music Teachers and Music Administrator.
- The quality of vocal, instrumental and ensemble teaching and performances.
- Taking a full part in the liturgical life of the College including Sunday Mass with the boarders.
- Organisation of performance programmes.
- Musical excellence which will attract talented pupils to the College.
- Promoting the College and its Music Department with feeder schools and prospective pupils and parents.
- Music scholarships.
- Links with the wider community.

St Edmund’s is England’s oldest Catholic school offering an all-round co-education for pupils from 3 to 18 and for families from all faiths.
The post will involve close contact with, and a high degree of responsibility for, children and young adults. The majority of this will be regulated activity.
You will be working on a regular basis in a school in a role which gives opportunity for contact with children. As such, you will be in regulated activity and an enhanced DBS check (which includes children’s barred list information) will be required in advance of appointment.
As with all staff, you will be responsible for providing a safe environment in which children can learn.
