Mission Statement and Religious Life

Our Mission Statement – Rooted in Christ and Catholic tradition and under the guidance of its patron, St Edmund’s aims to realise the God given potential, in body, mind and spirit, of all members of its community through service and leadership.

Avita Pro Fide!

Central to our aim at St Edmund’s Prep is to recognise, harness and develop the God given potential, in body, mind and spirit of every child in our care.  This is done through a rigorous academic programme together with outstanding provision in the Arts (drama, music, art and Design and Technology) and in Sport.  Emphasis is placed on getting to know each individual child and family and discover their passions and strengths.

St Edmund’s Prep has a reputation for outstanding pastoral care and personal development.  Through cultivating a warm, family-centred environment and by developing strong and positive relationships with the parents and grandparents of our children, we enable children to grow in the light of Christ and encouraging family, peers and teachers.

God works through all of us in different ways.  Every child is an individual and is seen as special and unique in the eyes of God and consequently, children are educated towards an understanding of mutual respect and appreciation.

As a school we focus each week on pastoral and liturgical themes which run through our teaching and prayer and coincide with the Church year calendar.  In House assemblies, we ask the children to focus on a pastoral theme which is returned to at the end of the week at our Celebration and Performing Arts Assembly.

Once a week we have a liturgical assembly, led by the Head of the Prep and the Chaplaincy Team.  This places scripture and prayer at the heart of all that we do and always conclude with a joyful hymn.

At St Edmund’s Prep, other faiths are addressed through a rolling programme of ‘Other Faith’ weeks run on a termly basis.
