Service of Carols and Readings
The thought of snow lying on the ground outside contributed greatly to the festive atmosphere of this year’s Carol Service. The children of Forms 3-6 rose to the occasion for their congregation of parents and grandparents. Due to the snowy weather, several bravely stepped in at short notice on the day for some of the Bible readings telling the Nativity story. As well as several traditional carols for the congregation, there were two French carols sung by Forms 3-4 and Forms 5-6, a carol performed by each of the four year groups, a carol from Form 6 Choristers and solo verses of carols from the Form 6 Head Choristers. Thank you to Fr Lyness for the Bidding Prayers, one of the readings and the Blessing and to Mr Benham who played the organ for us, including a virtuosic voluntary at the end. Adorning the cover of the Order of Service were nativity scenes and star pictures created by children in Forms 4 to 6.
