In the midst of global uncertainty, we at St Edmund’s are dedicated to providing all of our students with a consistent and proactive level of care, both pastorally and academically, while the nation deals with school closures.
Every morning at 9am, students of all year groups will be able to log into the VLE and receive their tasks for the day. To make things as simple as possible, all students will continue with their day to day timetable that they already know.
Those subjects will have specific tasks and resources set and will return work, wherever appropriate, via the VLE for their teachers to mark. Classes will also utilise a whole host of other resources to further engage and push the students. These will include new suites of e-book textbooks, GCSEPod, SAMLearning and Zoom which can be used for video-conferencing lessons. Students can also access their school desktop on their machine at home via VMWare (accessible from the dashboard of the VLE).
Instructions on these resources for parents, staff and students can be accessed from an icon on the main dashboard of the VLE.
Although many parents are used to accessing and using our VLE we have created a short overview video for your information which can be found here.
Parents may also find this video useful which explains VMWare which the students are used to using and use to log in to their own desktop from home. This can be found here.
If students or parents experience any technical difficulties with access to resources they should email: email@example.com
Teachers will also be available on e-mail throughout the school day to provide subject-specific support. Tutors will also be in touch throughout the period of closure so that they feel supported.
Remote learning can have some challenges so please find below some tips to help both students and parents. These documents can be downloaded from the bottom of this page
