Educational Classwork

Induction

On the first Monday morning, students receive an induction programme to introduce them to the course, the College and their stay in the UK. See Student Handbook.

 

Assessment and Placement

Students are also assessed to determine the most appropriate level of class for them. The English language range is usually between Advanced [C2] and Upper Elementary [A2]. Please note that we do not offer courses for low level pupils [Beginner, Basic, A1]
 

Students are placed in  groups according to age:

 

Junior School 

Middle School

Senior School

 

Pupils ability is assessed in several different ways by the ELT Manager.  Assessments are in Grammar, Listening, Writing and Speaking. 

 
Morning Classes - 09:00 to 12:30 .

Classes comprise of aproximately 14 children of a similar age and abilty. Class teachers are chosen for their abilty to motivate children and they will have a variety of skills, knowledge, qualifications and experience.

 

Educational Visits
Each week there is a full-day class visit to a famous site in England. The site will be chosen for its historical or cultural importance, and is of educational interest to young people. The students prepare the visit in advance with their class teacher, will have a guided tour of the site and will complete an educational project related to the visit. Visits are chosen to be suitable for the age and ability of the students in the class.
 
History Tours - St Edmund's College is rich in history, tradition and architecture. Each class follows a short project on the interesting history of the College including a guided tour taking in the museum, the Chapel (designed by the famous architect Pugin) and other areas of historical interest
