Sixth Form

The prospect of Sixth Form education is a most exciting, challenging and important one. It represents the final phase of formal schooling, the transition to adulthood and all the hopes and opportunities that this brings. We believe that at St Edmund's, our Sixth Form offers you a supportive environment which will help provide a passport to the best universities including those within the Russell and 94 groups and other institutions of higher education in Britain and abroad.

The excellent pastoral and academic support you will receive will help you to make the transition from GCSE to A Level study as smoothly as possible and will support you through these vital two years when important career choices are made.

Entry to Sixth Form

Each year students progress to our Sixth Form from year 11 but many also join us at this entry point from other schools.  For students entering the Sixth Form the same entry qualifications apply.  We ask for a minimum of five grade B's including those subjects which you hope to study for A Level.  For A level Mathematics students ideally require a grade A in GSCE Mathematics and an A* for Further Mathematics at GCSE level to progress from Poetry (Year 11) into the Sixth Form.  In addition a minimum of B grades are required in the subjects to be studied at AS level.

For new students joining at this entry point there will be an interview with the Head or Deputy Head and the need to provide a reference from the current school.
