Boarding

Being a boarder at the College is not that different from living at home - just with a much larger family! The boarding community is at the centre of life at St Edmund's and we believe it adds an enriching dimension to a child's school experience. In particular, we believe boarding helps to develop a child's maturity, self-confidence and provides a step towards a more independent life. We offer boarding for both boys and girls (in separate boarding areas) from the age of eleven.

We aim to provide the highest possible standards in pastoral care for our boarding community. All new boarders take part in an Induction Weekend to help them settle in, make new friends and get to know the staff. Our Boarding Council, made of students and staff, also meets regularly to discuss life in boarding and ways in which facilities and activities can be improved.

Initially, boarding may seem like an expensive option, but don't forget to include all the savings made when calculating the total cost. If your child boards, you will not only save money on general living costs, but also on telephone bills and possibly internet access. You are also likely to save money (and time!) on driving them to after-school clubs and on the cost of leisure activities and hobbies.
