Zeal for the Faith
Working at St Edmund's College and St Edmund's Prep
As a large senior and prep school, we have many opportunities for both teaching and non-teaching staff. We can offer employees the following:
A stunning setting in beautiful Hertfordshire countryside
The school is situated in 440 acres of parkland, with stunning views at every turn, providing a wonderful environment for staff. The imposing buildings complement the surroundings. Located six miles north of the quiet market town of Ware, St Edmund's is quiet but not isolated, being only an hour from London and Cambridge.
A sense of true community with a clarity of vision and values
The College has a very proud Catholic tradition which dates back to the 16th century. This is best reflected in its glorious Pugin chapel. More importantly, it makes this School a special place with a caring heart in an increasingly frenetic world. Achievement for all focuses our activities with the intellectual, sporting, cultural, spiritual and personal growth of the students as its mission.
A happy staff room with a talented, committed and friendly staff
The staff at St Edmund's pride themselves on their positive outlook and sense of humour. New members of staff are made very welcome and settle quickly. There is always a supportive colleague to be found. The College is an exciting place to work with many new developments taking place and yet it retains a sense of the core values of education.
Friendly students who respond to their teachers
The
students are a diverse group of positive and amenable children. They
are happy and confident with many talents and the wide number of
extra-curricular activities they take part in demonstrates those
talents. We maintain small class sizes, with the support of Assistants
throughout the School.
A place to grow
There are many opportunities to develop your teaching career, with a well thought out INSET programme and there is a programme in place to support NQTs. Laptops are provided for all staff to use and innovation in all aspects of teaching is encouraged.
A lively boarding community for the 11-16 Year olds
The boarders are an asset to the College and come from the UK and many different countries. Family or single accommodation may be available for teachers and is provided in return for support of the boarding community through duties.
We also offer:
Child Welfare
St
Edmund's College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare
of children and young people, and expect all staff to share this
commitment. All appointments are therefore subject to an enhanced CRB
check.
