St Edmund's Sunday 2014 Review
St Edmund’s Sunday 2014
Sunday 16th November
It might have been grey and damp outside but inside the College on Sunday 16th November warmth and joy was in abundance!
OEs young and old attended the St Edmund’s Sunday celebrations with representatives from the 1940s right through to those who had left only last summer.
This was Father Peter’s first St Edmund’s Sunday and he led a joyful and moving Mass whilst Schola Cantorum lifted the roof of the Chapel with their beautiful voices.
Following Mass we briefly stopped in the Ambulacrum for drinks and to catch up with all the OEs who attended – Headmaster Paulo Durán gave a welcoming speech to all. And then onto the banquet buffet in the newly furnished Refectory, drawing gasps of admiration from many.
The afternoon provided much entertainment in the form of the traditional Rugby match: St Edmund's College ran out 34 - 22 winners against Cheshunt Rugby Club who were captained by OE, Mark Lennon. After the game both teams went to The Star in Standon for food and drinks where the landlords Jeff and Jo hosted a great evening enjoyed by all.
The afternoon also saw the launch of a new book ‘A Prep School Second to None’ by Mike Jenner, OE, in the Prep School Hall. We gathered to listen to Mike give us a speech about the book and its contents – it really was a labour of love and we thank Mike for all his efforts in producing this delightful tome. The book is available to buy on the Edmundian Merchandise page on this website.
We look forward to the next Edmundian event to bring us all together once again.
Avita Pro Fide!
