CCF 100th Anniversary
Celebrating 100 Years of the Combined Cadet Force at St Edmund's
On Saturday 1st October the College hosted a spectacular day for the CCF's centenary celebrations along with our Biennial General Inspection. Old Edmundians, cadets and their families were invited to take part in this very special day.
Our Reviewing Officer Air Vice Marshal Maddox and his wife Air Commodore Maddox inspected our cadets in the pouring rain whilst the St Edmund’s wind band played with skill and pride. This was followed by a special Service of Thanksgiving for the presence and work of the CCF at the College, led by the Rev David Skillen (RAF).
A wonderful and lively lunch followed before the afternoon activities began. First up were the Red Devils, parachuting onto the cricket pitch with a specially commissioned flag, followed closely by a low level flying display by a Spitfire. There were various stalls and stands on the front lawn with cadets showing off their skills and along with representatives from the Parachute Regiment, the RAF Careers team and the Royal Anglian Regiment.
It was a truly magnificent day enjoyed by all. A special thank you to The Edmundian Association whose kind donation made the day possible. Here's to another 100 years!
